Professional Biography Bob Cashell was elected Mayor of the City of Reno in November 2002 and re-elected in November 2006.Bob began his public life in 1979 when he was elected to the University of Nevada System Board of Regents and was immediately elected Chairman by his peers. He is the first freshman Regent to be elected Chairman and served in that position throughout his term. Following his time as a University Regent, he was elected Lt. Governor for the State of Nevada in 1982. Working together with then Governor Richard Bryan, they created both the Nevada Commission on Economic Development and the Nevada Commission on Tourism. Bob subsequently served as Chairman of both Commissions. Bob serves as Chairman of the Board of Cashell Enterprises, a hotel/casino/resort management company. Throughout his tenure as a gaming executive, he has been associated with some of the leading resorts in Nevada and in other legalized states. Bob has long been active in the community both at the local level and throughout the state of Nevada. Personal Married for over 40 years to Nancy Parker Cashell together they have four children and nine grandchildren.
Appointments Bob has accepted a number of appointments and some of his involvement include; White House Fellowship Commission (Appointed by President Ronald Reagan) past Chairman National Lt. Governor’s Conference, past Chairman Nevada Comprehensive Health Planning Board, past Chairman Nevada State Higher Education, past Chairman Reno/Tahoe Olympic Organizing Committee for the Winter Olympic Games, past Chairman Nevada Museum of Art, Founder YMCA Youth Soccer, Reno.
