The market is designed to serve as a gathering place that will provide a unique experience centered around food, friends, shopping, entertainment and demonstrations. The focus of the food is homemade, fresh and local. The market will also serve as a place to find and buy unusual items, art and gifts. You will also find entertainment and demonstrations where you can learn new things from cooking to being a better steward to the environment.

Locally and nationally known food expert, Jennifer Bushman will provide cooking demonstrations. Some of the topics include: Kids in the Kitchen; Budding Teen Chefs; Date With Dad; Mommy at the Market; Learn at Lunch; Girls Night Out; Fast Scratch; Uncorked!; Meet the Producers; Seasonal Cooking Demonstrations; Shopping for a Family of 1-2; Harvest; Holiday Cooking.

Market Background
The Council’s Green and Redevelopment Priorities 2007/08 are in the forefront of the design and implementation of the Market District.

Market construction is being financed by CDBG funds – federal source targeting job creation and elimination of blight. No general fund dollars are being used to finance at the market. Other funds include RDA, grants and donations. Tenants are paying market rent, CAM and doing their own tenant improvements.
