Purpose
The purpose of the Reno Arts & Culture Commission is to serve as the official advisor to the City of Reno on matters related to the cultural life of the community. 

Membership
The commission consists of nine (9) members who are registered voters and reside in the Truckee Meadows area, a majority of whom shall reside and be registered voters in the City of Reno. The commission shall consist of at least one architect or designer, one arts educator, and one professional artist. The remaining members shall represent business and the community at large.

The regular term of office shall be for three (3) years. Each commission member may serve a maximum of two (2) consecutive terms. 

Typical Duties
Create an environment that encourages excellence by area artists and cultural organizations.
Strengthen the awareness and involvement of all citizens in the community's cultural life, both in heritage and in contemporary expressions.
Establish the priorities necessary to achieve these goals in concert with representatives from the public and private sectors.

Time Commitment
Meetings are held the first Monday of each month and last approximately 2-3 hours. Additional time may be spent on special projects and sub-committee work. Sub-committees include the Arts District Committee, Grants Committee, Marketing Committee and Public Art Committee.
