Concerned about how to safely recycle old electronics? Wonder what to do with that old television before the digital conversion? The City of Reno, New2ucomputers, Washoe County, City of Sparks, University of Nevada, Reno, and District Health are joining together with many community sponsors to help residents dispose of old electronics for free. The electronic recycling event is January 31 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Reno Livestock Event Center in the Community Building. In addition to televisions, residents can recycle items such as computers, laptops, monitors, keyboards, cords/cables, power supplies, printers, DVD players, and cell phones. Items that can’t be accepted are microwaves, toasters, blenders, and other similar kitchen appliances. All donations are tax exempt and a receipt will be provided. The event is also open to commercial businesses. Generous sponsors for the event include Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority, Whole Foods, Radiant Technology, IVGID Waste Not, and West Coast Construction. Keeping waste contained in home electronics out of our trash along with reducing waste is the goal of this community recycling event.
